I am a women's functional holistic health counselor, educator, researcher/writer, and advocate.
How did I get here?
After several years personally searching for care within the conventional medical system on a variety of chronic (yet, functional) symptoms (eczema, anxiety, leaky gut, and irregular and painful menses to name a few...), I did not feel better––questionably worse. That is when I realized there was a gap in the conventional health care model. If I wanted to feel better, I needed to take more responsibility for my health. So, I began studying and applying nutrition and holistic health philosophies to my life. For the first time, I was learning the healing power of self-care––how to truly address my chronic, functional symptoms naturally, and feel not only physically well, but holistically well too––mind, body, and spirit.
But, that was only the beginning.
I am now on a mission to empower others to feel more holistically well, too.
I have been seeing clients and working in the field for almost a decade. I am passionate about being a trusted resource for my clients. Therefore, I believe to be in practice means to have a career-long commitment to learning, sharing, and applying the latest holistic health and wellness research. Thus, I chose to seek Master-level training and bring a much needed scholarly professionalism to the health coaching/counseling field.
I graduated with a Master’s degree in Holistic Health at St. Catherine University, a highly reputable health and social justice women's college. During my studies, I learned about the healthy (and complicated) tension between traditional/indigenous philosophies of healing and evidence-based medicine. I also completed my own research project about the critical window of infant gut microbiome development––a word that just hit the Webster's dictionary in 2017! (I am in the works of publishing a peer-reviewed academic journal article in 2018-2019, so please stay tuned!)
I am now a pioneer and leader in understanding the healing power of nurturing the gut-brain connection!
In addition to my Master's training, I have a Functional Medicine coaching certificate through the Functional Medicine Coaching Academy, which is in affiliation with the prestigious Institute for Functional Medicine. Functional Medicine is a ground-breaking movement in health care that uses an evidence-based, whole-system diagnose and treatment philosophy that identifies the root cause of an ailment by exploring the relationship of genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors.
I love to learn. I love to listen. And, if you are ready, willing and able, I'd love to support your unique journey. Please contact me, I look forward to working with you.
